Julian’s connection to aquaculture runs deep, beginning in the early 80’s when his father, Jim, first started farming mussels in the Marlborough Sounds. What began as a family venture soon grew, with Julian and his brothers involved in the operation for many years. Growing up immersed in the industry laid a strong foundation for his understanding of the sector. After spending time overseas working in the super yacht industry, Julian returned to Nelson with his young family - drawn back to his roots and the environment he knew best.
With aquaculture in his blood, founding Channel Marine was a natural step. Julian brings entrepreneurial drive and hands-on leadership to the business, operating a trusted fleet across Tasman and Golden Bays and the Marlborough Sounds. Julian and his team focus on delivering reliable, innovative solutions that support the long-term growth of New Zealand’s marine industries.
